ZDYA representatives held discussions over the matter of repairing locomotives with their Mongolian counterparts.

In a significant development for the railway industry, a meeting was held on August 3 in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, between representatives of Yakutia Railways and Ulaanbaatar Railway. The focus of the meeting was on issues of locomotive repairs, particularly the technology of repairing traction electric motors.

The discussion covered the repair of traction electric motors of the ED-118 and ED-133 series, which are types of electric locomotives used in some parts of the former Soviet rail network and neighboring regions, including Siberia (Yakutia region) and Mongolia. This repair method could extend the service life of electric motors and partially reduce the need for services from third-party organizations, as noted by Alexander Chuprov, the deputy head of the locomotive service for repairs of JSC "AK "YDY".

Repairing traction electric motors in the locomotive depot of Aldan station in the scope of TR-3 and SR is one of the important development directions for JSC "Yakutia Railways". This repair method, which may involve diagnostics, rewinding, bearing replacement, insulation testing, and sometimes modernization with newer components or monitoring systems, could be influenced by the extreme cold climate in Yakutia, causing wear on insulation and mechanical parts.

Bambajav Enkhmand, the deputy head of the locomotive depot for repairs of JSC "UBRD", and Bambadorj Bavuugar, the head of the repair department of the traction service at UBRD, were present at the meeting and were part of the invited delegation for the experience exchange in Yakutia. They shared insights into the repair practices at Mongolian Railway, which may have different standards and availability of repair infrastructure.

The meeting was not limited to locomotive repairs but also included an inspection of the production shops and the technology of the locomotive depot in Ulaanbaatar. As a result of the meeting, representatives of the Mongolian Railway were invited to Yakutia to the locomotive depot of Aldan station for an experience exchange.

Alexander Chuprov, the deputy head of the locomotive service for repairs of JSC "AK "YDY", highlighted the meeting as beneficial for exchanging experience between JSC "Yakutia Railways" and the Mongolian Railway. This exchange of knowledge is crucial for improving repair technologies and maintaining the efficiency of the railways in both regions.

However, a direct comparison of these repair technologies for ED-118 and ED-133 series traction motors between Yakutia Railways and Mongolian Railway is not readily available in publicly accessible sources. For highly specific, up-to-date, and comparative technical information about repair technologies for these locomotive traction motors on these two railways, it is recommended to consult specialized railway engineering publications, contact the railways’ technical departments, or explore Russian and Mongolian rail industry technical literature or standards.
