Walmart expands its collectibles collection through a live shopping event series
Walmart and TalkShopLive Team Up for "Collector's Night"
Walmart, the world's largest retailer, is taking a significant step forward in its collectibles business with the launch of "Collector's Night". This weekly live shopping series, in partnership with TalkShopLive and WeTheHobby, aims to transform Walmart into a true destination for the collectibles category.
The first episode of "Collector's Night" aired on Thursday, marking a new era for Walmart's collectibles offerings. Mayank Hajela, Walmart's general manager of collectibles, stated that this area is a critical and exciting area of investment and growth for the company.
TalkShopLive, a US-based E-commerce and Live-streaming company, unveiled its first broadcast-quality mobile app in 2023. The app allows iOS users to have up to four participants in live shows, pin products, sell products, and communicate with viewers. This partnership with TalkShopLive will further enhance Walmart's live shopping experiences.
Walmart began offering collectibles through its online marketplace approximately a year ago, and has since collaborated with WeTheHobby at The National Sports Collectors Convention. The new series aims to deepen these ties and bring the community element of the category online.
"Collector's Night" will feature shopping opportunities, live "box breaks", exclusive product releases, and giveaways. Merchants on Walmart's online marketplace can sell dolls, sports memorabilia, comic books, and other coveted collectibles.
Mattel, a popular toy manufacturer, has also joined the digital collectibles revolution by partnering with Rarible, a digital collectibles company, to create a peer-to-peer marketplace for virtual collectibles. TikTok Shop has also introduced 10 new collectibles categories this year, with a requirement for sellers to verify the authenticity of their merchandise.
Walmart is committed to building experiences for collectors that redefine their expectations. With the launch of "Collector's Night", the company is expanding its presence in collectibles and deepening its live shopping ties, specifically with TalkShopLive.
Bryan Moore, the founder and CEO of TalkShopLive (as of 2023), will no doubt play a crucial role in this exciting new venture. For the latest and most accurate information, please visit TalkShopLive's website or contact the company directly.
