Volvo Unveils PU2000: Cutting-Edge Battery Storage System for Energy Optimization
Volvo Group has unveiled the PU2000, a cutting-edge Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) designed to optimize energy cost and support operational continuity. The system was officially introduced at the Volvo Group's Customer Day in Gothenburg on October 1, 2025.
The PU2000 is a result of Volvo Group's expansion into energy solutions, as highlighted by Elisabeth Larsson, SVP and Head of Sales & Services, Volvo Energy. The development of the system was initiated by Perpetuum, with the prototype manufactured in Germany.
The PU2000 offers flexible and future-ready performance, supporting peak shaving, load shifting, energy cost optimization, grid market revenue generation, EV charging integration, and island mode operation. It seamlessly integrates with the Volvo Site Controller and Volvo Cloud Energy Management System (VEMS), ensuring safety, quality, and security with advanced fire prevention, liquid cooling, PFAS-free direct injection fire suppression, robust cybersecurity, and Volvo supply chain controls.
The PU2000, designed, developed, and manufactured in Sweden by Volvo Energy, is a tangible example of Volvo Group's commitment to being a leading force in the shift toward electrification and the green transition. By optimizing energy cost and supporting operational continuity, the PU2000 accelerates the transition to electrification and promotes energy optimization and resiliency.
