However, Lürssen didn't provide an exact release date just yet.

Eva Weber, Augsburg's mayor (CSU), expressed her excitement, stating, "Championing the corvette 'Augsburg' signifies a strong bond between our remarkable city and the German Navy."

The "Augsburg" belongs to the Braunschweig class 130, consisting of five vessels commissioned by the navy between 2008 and 2013. In 2017, an order for five additional corvettes followed, with Lürssen spearheading the construction team. Thyssenkrupp Marine Systems and German Naval Yards in Kiel are also part of the project.

Unfortunately, the christening of the other ship, the "Lübeck," has yet to take place. Fret not, as the five corvettes are currently stationed at the Blohm+Voss shipyard, and the "Augsburg," "Cologne," "Emden," and "Karlsruhe" have already been christened in the lead-up to the big event. The "Lübeck" christening is still on the horizon.

These ships, designed by Lürssen, are constructed for coastal operations, providing capabilities for reconnaissance and combat missions, particularly in the North and Baltic Seas.
