VinFast Expands Presence in India with Chennai Showroom Launch
VinFast Auto India, a subsidiary of the Vietnam-based conglomerate Vingroup JSC, is making significant strides in the Indian market. The company has announced plans to establish 35 showrooms across 27 cities by the end of 2025, marking a major expansion in its retail and service infrastructure.
The company's largest showroom, spanning over 4,700 sq. ft, was recently inaugurated in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. Strategically located in the prominent area of Teynampet, the showroom is promoted by Maansarovar Motors, a well-established name in Chennai's automotive retail landscape.
At the launch, Mr. Pham Sanh Chau, CEO of VinFast Asia, expressed the company's commitment to Chennai and its ambition to redefine the EV ownership journey. He emphasised VinFast's mission to make EVs accessible to everyone and drive a greener future through responsible innovation.
The showroom will showcase VinFast's premium electric SUVs, including the VF 6 and VF 7. Pre-bookings for these models were officially opened on July 15, 2025.
In addition to sales network expansion, VinFast inaugurated an electric vehicle assembly plant in Tamil Nadu in August 2025. This manufacturing capability, with a scalable capacity aligned with sales targets, supports the company's goal of producing 50,000 vehicles annually initially, scalable to 150,000.
VinFast has formed strategic partnerships with RoadGrid, myTVS, and Global Assure for charging and after-sales services in India. Customers can book their preferred VinFast premium electric SUV either at the exclusive showrooms or through the official website, VinFastAuto.in, with a fully refundable booking amount of INR 21,000.
The company's expansion in India is part of its broader global strategy, with a focus on key markets across North America, Europe, and Asia. VinFast's product lineup includes a wide range of electric SUVs, e-scooters, and e-buses.
In a significant move towards sustainability, VinFast has partnered with BatX Energies, a leading Indian clean-tech company, to promote battery recycling and develop a circular battery value chain.
