VinFast, the Vietnamese automotive company, has partnered with Chandan Car to establish a future-ready electric vehicle (EV) ecosystem in India. The partnership was announced with the opening of the first VinFast showroom in Surat, Gujarat.

Pham Sanh Chau, CEO of VinFast Asia, stated that the showroom is a symbol of the company's deep commitment to India. The facility aims to offer a complete ownership journey built on quality, trust, and service excellence.

VinFast VF6 and VF7 Electric SUVs for India

The VinFast VF6 and VF7 electric SUVs for India come with distinct features and specifications, designed for different segments.

VinFast VF6 Key Features and Specifications

The VF6 offers two variants: Earth and Wind trims. It features a 59.6 kWh lithium-ion battery pack, a single front-mounted electric motor, and promises a driving range of up to 470 km on NEDC. The power output is up to 201 PS (201 bhp), with 310 Nm of torque. The SUV accelerates from 0–100 km/h in 9 seconds and has an electronically limited top speed of 175 km/h. The drivetrain is front-wheel drive (FWD) only.

Safety and tech features include Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), multiple airbags, a 360-degree camera system, connected car technology, and a head-up display. The VF6 is available in six exterior colours: Jet Black, Desat Silver, Infinity Blanc, Crimson Red, Zenith Grey, and Urban Mint. The interior themes are all-black for the Earth and mocha brown/black dual-tone for the Wind. The expected price range is between ₹18 lakh and ₹25 lakh (ex-showroom).

VinFast VF7 Key Features and Specifications

The VF7 offers multiple trims with options for single or dual motor configurations. It features a larger 70.8 kWh lithium-ion battery, promises a driving range of up to 496 km (NEDC), and has a power output of up to 354 PS. The torque is up to 500 Nm. The SUV accelerates from 0–100 km/h in 5.8 seconds for the all-wheel drive (AWD) variant.

The VF7 is available in front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive layouts. Safety and tech features are expected to be similar to the VF6, including advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), multiple airbags, and 360-degree cameras. The VF7 is available in six exterior colours similar to the VF6. The expected price starts around ₹50 lakh (ex-showroom).

Pre-Booking and Launch Details

Pre-bookings for the VF6 and VF7 electric SUVs were officially opened in India on July 15. The VF6 is expected to launch imminently (as of August 2025), ahead of or during the festive season. The VF7 is also confirmed for launch soon.

Pre-bookings can be made with a token amount of ₹21,000. Early press coverage suggests that booking can be done online via the official VinFast India website or authorized dealers, as per standard industry practice.

VinFast's Commitment to India

The partnership between VinFast and Chandan Car signals a strong commitment to India's market growth. VinFast is setting up its first electric vehicle manufacturing facility in Tamil Nadu, India.
