Vietnam's technological innovation hub escalates its efforts to bolster tech advancements and entrepreneurship.

Tech-Powered Transformation: Boosting Innovation and Entrepreneurship in Vietnam

Hà Nội — The National Innovation Centre (NIC), a strategic cornerstone in Vietnam's aspiration to become a global technology powerhouse, is cranking up its efforts to irrigate the soil of innovation, entrepreneurship, and critical technology sectors, according to the centre's Director, Vũ Quòc Huy.

The NIC is syncing its trajectory with the Government's broader vision, as encapsulated in the Politburo's Resolution 57 on pioneering advancements in science, technology, innovation, and national digital transformation, and Resolution 68 on supercharging the private sector.

Huy illuminated the NIC's intentions to amplify public awareness and build the capacity for innovation and entrepreneurship. To instigate this revolution, the NIC has secured partnerships with world-class tech juggernauts, such as Google for digital platform development, Samsung for Industry 4.0 training, and most recently, Intel for its "AI for All" program, which aims to democratize artificial intelligence knowledge.

The NIC is also constructing Vietnam's innovation ecosystem from the ground up, elevating the caliber and influence of indigenous industries destined to put Vietnam on the map. Its marquee events include the Vietnam International Innovation Expo, conjoined with investment forums and the forthcoming Vietnam Innovation Day, a three-to-five-day extravaganza anticipated in October under the ministerial command. International forums on AI and innovation investment will perpetuate, interweaving with detailed reports to engage and enlighten the public.

A salient focus for the NIC is workforce development, particularly in the semiconductor sector. The centre is coordinating the realization of a Government decision to breed 50,000 engineers by 2030, with long-term ambitions extending to 2050. Collaborations with tech titans like Cadence, Synopsys, Meta, and Nvidia will provide essential resources, including training and chip design software, to establish a skilled AI and semiconductor workforce.

The NIC is also enlarging the Việt Nam Innovation Network, an international platform linking VT tech experts and professionals worldwide. On home turf, the centre is incubating innovation at the grassroots level by fostering entrepreneurship hubs at around 80 universities, galvanizing students to embrace innovative thinking from an early age.

Vietnam's stable political environment and robust Governmental backing provide a fortress for these endeavors, Huy emphasized.

Driven by the Party's backing, the National Assembly, and several ministries, the nation is refining a legal framework that is innovation-friendly. Recent decrees, including Decree 94/2020 and Decree 97/2025, provide preferential policies to the NIC, while a forthcoming Law on Science, Technology, and Innovation is poised to herald a more open and streamlined regulatory environment.

Additionally, Vietnam's demographic advantage, including a youthful population of 100 million in a "golden age," fortifies its ambitions. With a workforce acclimated towards science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM), Vietnam presents an appealing landscape for private investment in innovation-driven sectors.

Lastly, the NIC's operational model itself is becoming a nexus for attracting funding for innovative startups, alongside hi-tech zones and other innovation support centres in the imminent future. These partnerships and initiatives underscore the NIC's determination to transmute Vietnam into a regional hub for cutting-edge sectors, from AI to IoT and semiconductors.
