Vietnam Unveils "Visit Vietnam" National Tourism Data Platform

Vietnam has announced the launch of its national tourism data platform, "Visit Vietnam," marking a significant stride towards unifying fragmented tourism information and services. The platform aims to streamline travel planning for tourists while supporting sustainable growth in the tourism sector.

The launch event, held in Quảng Ninh on August 15, was attended by key stakeholders, including the Việt Nam National Authority of Tourism (VNAT), National Data Association (NDA), and strategic partners Sun Group, Visa, Mastercard, and Trip.com. Major Đào Đức Triệu, NDA Secretary General, described the launch as a milestone in building a public-private tourism data ecosystem.

Visit Vietnam offers a range of features designed to enhance the travel experience. The AI Travel Assistant helps tourists plan and book trips with personalized itineraries and service bookings. Blockchain-based authentication ensures data reliability, prevents fraud, and protects user information through decentralized verification and tokenization security.

The platform integrates multiple services, including transport, accommodation, dining, and nationwide loyalty programs, into one ecosystem, addressing issues of scattered and disconnected information. It also provides real-time data for government agencies to formulate data-driven policies, enabling businesses to capture market trends and design personalised products.

Under the agreement, the NDA will set policy and legal frameworks and certify the project, Sun Group will develop and operate the technology, and the tourism authority will promote the initiative and engage the business community.

The development roadmap for Visit Vietnam begins in October 2021 with the launch of the national data platform and the debut of the National Tourism Dashboard version 1.0 for government use. The platform is scheduled to go public in the second quarter of 2026, focusing on building trust and providing trip planning tools. By 2027, Visit Vietnam aims to evolve into a super app for tourism, allowing one-touch ticket booking and multimedia integration.

The 2027 APEC Summit and related summits will mark Visit Vietnam's debut on the global stage, featuring direct booking systems, AI-powered itinerary suggestions, and a Data-as-a-Service (DaaS) model for businesses. This global exposure is in line with Vietnam’s ambition to be a global leader in digital tourism and enhance visitor experience through innovative technology.

With the launch of Visit Vietnam, Vietnam takes a significant step towards digitalising its tourism sector, enhancing its competitiveness, strengthening international connectivity, and paving the way for sustainable development.
