Venom's Album Achieving Gold Status and Receiving a Fresh Mysterious Costume
Since 2017, Marvel's been putting Venom in the spotlight, giving him top-tier status and starring roles in comic events from time to time. Right now, it's a family feud between Eddie Brock and his son Dylan in "Venom War," but once that's over, a fresh era begins for Venom—one where neither Brock will be the leading man.
Polygon's dropped some news about Al Ewing and Carlos Gómez's upcoming series, called All-New Venom. Eddie's seemingly taking a vacation, but Dylan's on the case, investigating the new dude the Symbiote's hooked up with. This is a detective-like tale, with our teen Brock on the hunt. Four prime suspects are floating around: New York mayor Luke Cage, Daily Bugle regular Robbie Robertson, villain Madame Masque, and long-time Hulk ally Rick Jones. Ewing hinted each could potentially be the new host. For instance, Masque's got some "big plans" post the "Gang War" event, while Robertson's got a knack for problem-solving, like Superman. The aim is to keep readers guessing.
All-New Venom brings us back to street-level Venom action after the recent storylines were super-heavy on cosmic stuff. Ewing explained, "It's more like a Spider-Man-level story." With a focus on character and ground-level superhero action, he teased that this new Venom will be fighting like a street-level hero.
For those who've followed Ewing's work, he likened All-New Venom to classic superhero comics, a chance for him to show off his creative skills. "Venom demands some degree of craziness and wildness and fun," he said. "And I think All-New Venom is going to embrace that even more."
All-New Venom is set to hit the stands in December.
