US Boosts Estonia's Military Might with $5B HIMARS Deal

Washington has boosted its support for Estonia's military capabilities, expanding the limit on supplies of American HIMARS rocket systems and ammunition to a whopping 4.73 billion euros. This move, which still needs the House's approval, could significantly enhance Estonia's defence arsenal.

The agreement allows Estonia to potentially triple its HIMARS fleet to 18 installations, and vastly increase its stockpile of missiles. This includes 200 ATACMS missiles and a staggering 856 units of GMLRS ammunition. This substantial boost signals a significant strengthening of Estonia's military might and underscores the US's commitment to supporting Baltic defence, particularly in light of heightened tensions with Russia.

Estonia has welcomed this US decision, viewing it as an opportunity to further fortify its role as a key NATO military outpost. The details of the agreement will be finalised in a separate contract, pending the House's approval.

The US's expanded support for Estonia's military capabilities, if approved by the House, will see Estonia's HIMARS fleet and missile stockpiles significantly bolstered. This move reflects the US's continued commitment to bolstering NATO's eastern flank and Estonia's strategic importance in the region.
