Upgraded Personal Air Conditioner from Sony Reon Pocket Now Equipped with Advanced Specifications
Introducing the Sony Reon Pocket Pro: A Significant Upgrade in Wearable Thermal Technology
Sony has unveiled its latest iteration of the Reon Pocket, the Reon Pocket Pro, offering a range of improvements over its predecessor.
The Pro model boasts a larger cooling area, approximately double the contact area for cooling and warming, enhancing the surface cooling effect. This expansion is complemented by an upgraded heat dissipation mechanism and a high airflow fan, resulting in cooling capacity that is roughly twice that of previous models.
The battery upgrade allows the Pocket Pro to operate on COOL Level 1 for about 34 hours, roughly doubling the runtime compared to the Pocket 5. In SMART COOL mode, the device can run for up to 15 hours of strong cooling.
New sensors in the Pocket Pro detect attachment more accurately, improving the AUTO START/STOP function for automatic cooling and warming when placed on the body. Proprietary algorithms estimate user behavior, ambient temperature, and humidity to optimize cooling, making the Pro a more intelligent and efficient device.
The Pocket Pro also features physical control buttons for power, mode switching (COOL/WARM), and level selection, allowing control without relying on a smartphone app. This addition provides a more independent user experience.
Design enhancements include a main body that curves better to the body for improved comfort, a mechanical flexible tube diameter increase for better flexibility, and a silicone band supporter for a more comfortable wear.
The Reon Pocket Pro is targeted at global and corporate markets, particularly hotter climates like the Middle East and industries requiring long operations, such as warehouses.
In contrast, the Pocket 5 was a standard model focusing on general consumers with improved cooling over prior versions but lacked the extended runtime, enhanced automatic controls, and design refinements introduced in the Pro version.
Recharging the device takes around two hours, and the price of the Reon Pocket Pro is £199 in the U.K., which is approximately $270. The Pro now includes physical control buttons for adjusting the temperature, a departure from the previous model's reliance on a Sony smartphone app for temperature control.
The Reon Pocket Pro is not yet available in the U.S., but it promises to be a significant upgrade over the Pocket 5 with larger cooling area, about twice the cooling performance, longer battery life, smarter sensors for automatic operation, physical control buttons, and ergonomic design improvements suited for tougher climates and corporate use.
