Alpine, the French performance car brand, has unveiled its latest offering - the A390, a fully electric fastback SUV designed to blend track-ready performance with practicality.

The A390 boasts a three-motor setup, with one front wound-rotor motor and two rear permanent-magnet motors, delivering up to 470 hp in the GTS version and 400 hp in the GT version. This powerful setup propels the GTS from 0-62mph in an impressive 3.9 seconds, while the GT follows closely behind at 4.8 seconds. The top speeds stand at 137 mph for the GTS and 124 mph for the GT.

The A390's 89 kWh battery pack, combined with a heat pump for efficiency, promises a WLTP range of up to 345 miles for the GT model and 330 miles for the GTS, with 20-inch wheels.

The A390's interior is as sporty as its exterior, featuring electrically adjustable and heated Alpine Sport seats, a dedicated suspension with hydraulic stops for comfort and handling, and 365mm discs with 6-piston callipers for braking. Advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) are also included, offering features such as adaptive cruise control and driver attention monitoring.

Customers who purchase an Alpine A-Pass will receive early access to ordering and news updates, as well as a pair of exclusive Devialet Alpine edition earbuds.

The A390 is built on the 'AmpR Medium' platform, shared with the Renault Megane E-Tech and Nissan Ariya SUVs. Buyers can choose alloy wheels in 20- or 21-inch sizes, both wrapped in bespoke Michelin tyres.

In terms of design, the A390 draws inspiration from the Alpine A110, with similarities in the windscreen, rear window, diffuser, and transverse bonnet 'blade'. The cabin features a combination of 12.3-inch and 12-inch high-definition screens.

The A390 is compatible with 190kW DC fast charging, capable of charging from 15 to 80 percent in less than 25 minutes. It also offers two-way, vehicle-to-load charging.

When compared to competitors like the Porsche Macan EV and Maserati Grecale Folgore, the A390 stands out as a high-performance electric vehicle with a focus on agility and track readiness. While the Macan EV offers more luxury features, the A390 is designed for those seeking a more specialized track-oriented performance. The Grecale Folgore, with its luxury focus, might differ from the A390's sporty interior and features.

The A390 is available in six paint colours, with the option of a contrasting black roof. Alcantara-clad sports seats are standard in the A390 GT, with the GTS featuring Sabelt buckets in grey and blue Nappa leather. A heated steering wheel in the A390 features aluminium buttons inspired by Alpine's Formula One racing cars.

Order books for the A390 will open in November 2025, with a VIP priority scheme available. The first completed A390 cars are expected to reach customers in the second quarter of 2026. Alpine's next chapter includes sales in the North American market, positioning the A390 to compete with premium SUVs such as the Porsche Macan EV and Maserati Grecale Folgore.
