UK Court issues temporary restraining order in favor of SPRIBE in the legal battle over Aviator game
In a significant turn of events, the UK High Court has granted an interim injunction to game developer SPRIBE, preventing Georgian company Aviator LLC from marketing or launching a copycat version of SPRIBE's popular Aviator crash game in the UK.
The decision comes as a relief for SPRIBE, the sole owner of the game globally, which has seen its award-winning title skyrocket in popularity in online casino markets across the globe. The game, known for its distinctive gameplay mechanic and branding, was first licensed in the UK in 2020.
The injunction was issued due to concerns that Aviator LLC's game, also named Aviator, allegedly conducted promotional communications targeting SPRIBE customers and blatantly infringed the copyright works owned by SPRIBE.
David Natroshvili, SPRIBE's Founder, expressed his pleasure with the decision. He pointed out that SPRIBE will continue to take all necessary steps globally to protect its intellectual property and its partners and players from third parties. Natroshvili also revealed that the UK Court supports SPRIBE's position.
However, Aviator LLC contests SPRIBE's characterization of this injunction as a decisive victory. The company emphasizes that the injunction is a temporary, procedural measure without legal or commercial finality. Aviator LLC also plans to apply for a UK gambling license and affirms that the main legal arguments, including claims of bad faith trademark registration and copyright infringement, will be fully contested in subsequent proceedings.
The legal dispute between the two companies is part of a broader parallel litigation in multiple jurisdictions, with both sides continuing to assert their claims vigorously. The ultimate legal determination on copyright and trademark infringement remains pending and contested by Aviator LLC.
Despite the ongoing legal battle, SPRIBE's Aviator game continues to deliver unforgettable experiences to new players, enjoying resounding success and constantly growing its customer base. SPRIBE's Founder, David Natroshvili, is excited about the latest accomplishment in the lawsuit against Aviator LLC.
