Gemini Live Now Available on iPhones: A Game-Changer for Voice-Based AI Assistance

Google's latest update to its Gemini Live app brings a host of exciting features to both free and paid users, including those with Google AI Pro and AI Ultra plans, on iPhones and iPads. The update (1.2025.2062302) introduces the much-anticipated Gemini Live, enabling users to interact naturally with real-time AI assistance, manage schedules, reminders, notes, and navigation directly within conversations.

Gemini Live integrates deeply with Google apps such as Calendar, Tasks, Keep, and Maps, making it an invaluable tool for productivity. Users can talk through ideas, learn about their environment, or receive assistance with screen content using Gemini Live. The screen sharing feature, named "Screen Broadcast," is now available on iPhones, allowing users to share their screen during video calls or screen shares.

The screen sharing feature on Gemini Live leverages Project Astra-based live camera and screen sharing technology. This multimodal live API streams live data such as video, audio, and text to the AI in real-time, enabling it to analyze and respond dynamically during live interactions. For instance, when you point the camera at printed calendar details or on-screen information during a video or screen share, Gemini Live can automatically extract that data and handle related task or event creation seamlessly without manual input.

To access these features, iPhone users are expected to be running the latest app version, 1.2025.2062302. The app is now available for download on various phone deal websites like Best Buy, Walmart, Samsung, Amazon, Verizon, and AT&T. Upon opening the app, iPhone users will notice a new pop-up suggesting them to try "Share your camera or screen with Gemini Live." After hitting "Try Live," iPhone users are greeted with a screen similar to Android phones, with buttons for video, share screen, pause, and end chat. To start screen sharing, iPhone users need to hit "Start Broadcast."

It's worth noting that iPhone users will receive an alert from Apple before starting the screen sharing. Incoming notifications can be included during screen sharing on iPhones. This makes Gemini Live a powerful tool for managing daily tasks and information flow hands-free and contextually, adapting to your conversational style and environment in real time.

Interested users can access Gemini Live through the Gemini app, now available on iPhones and iPads in the U.S. With Gemini Live, users can expect a new level of productivity and convenience, transforming the way they interact with their devices and manage their daily lives.
