Prepare for a wave of sharing, as Instagram Story distributions are set to commence

Time for Another Round of Spotify Wrapped Insights

It's December 1st, and you bloody well know what that means: Spotify's Wrapped is back for its yearly musical review, and let's face it - the wave of social media posts ridiculing friends for their questionable taste in tunes is just around the corner.

With Wrapped, Spotify wraps up your favorite artists, songs, and podcasters from the past year in a Box-Office-worthy slideshow, complete with a little dose of "are you serious?" moment when you realize you're more mopey and predictable than you thought. Hey, at least it's entertaining, right?

This year, Spotify has maintained the delightful cliches you expect in its story-style card format, such as Your Top Songs and Artists Revealed. But there's a couple of fresh, spicy features designed to jazz up your audio experience:

  1. "2021: The Movie" - because everyone's the main character, right? This bad boy assigns some of your fave tunes to cheesy movie moments like "declaring love in the pouring rain" and "hitting the gym like a boss."
  2. "Your Audio Aura" - a cute little card that pairs two adjectives (like "melancholic," "bold," and "sentimental") with your listening preferences. Because we all need a touch of astrology in our lives, ahem music preferences.

If you're curious about sharing your hilarious listening habits with the world, Spotify has teamed up with TikTok for the first time, allowing you to share your Wrapped results on the app.

Spotify has also dished the dirt on the most popular artist (bad Bunny, of course, with over 9.1 billion streams), global song (Olivia Rodrigo's "drivers license"), and album (SOUR, also by Olivia Rodrigo).

Sadly, if you were hoping to check out Wrapped on your desktop, you're out of luck. You'll have to find it on the iOS and Android apps instead. So grab your popcorn, curl up with your phone, and prepare to be amazed by the sheer amount of Taylor Swift you've soundtracked your year with.

Oh, and just a heads-up - Wrapped isn't entirely new this year, but Spotify's been working on refining its format to provide a more personalized listening experience. So while there might not be groundbreaking new features, it's still worth taking a peek.

  1. In 2021, technology has integrated Spotify's Wrapped with TikTok, enabling users to confess their unique listening habits on the social media platform.
  2. As we step into the future, Spotify's Wrapped offers personalized categories, such as "Your Audio Aura" and "2021: The Movie," to cater to diverse preferences in music and entertainment.
  3. The tech giant, Spotify, has identified some of the most popular categories in 2021, with Olivia Rodrigo's "drivers license" being the global song of the year and her album, SOUR, topping the list.
  4. To experience Spotify's Wrapped, one must embrace the transition from desktop to smartphones, as the experience is now available exclusively on iOS and Android apps.
