TikTok Introduces New Marketing Strategies Aimed at Bolstering Songwriters' Visibility

TikTok has rolled out a new set of features designed to give songwriters a more prominent place on the platform. The development comes after feedback from 871 songwriters and data from MIDiA Research highlighting TikTok's significant role in music careers.

The new features, including the Songwriter Account label, Music Tab, #BehindTheSong, 'New' tag, and "Add to Music App" integration, aim to broaden TikTok's music ecosystem and provide a permanent home for a composer's catalog and creative journey.

Songwriters and publishers interested in early access can sign up via TikTok's regional waitlists for the US, EU, and beyond. Notable composers such as Lauren Christy, Toby Gad, and Justin Tranter have already claimed their Songwriter badges and Music Tabs.

Once approved, registered songwriters will receive an official “Songwriter” label on their TikTok profiles, identifying them as a songwriter on the platform. They will also gain access to a dedicated Songwriter Music Tab on their profiles, which prominently showcases the tracks they have written or co-written. This setup allows songwriters to share songs and stories behind their creations, enhancing visibility and credit in the TikTok community.

Marketers can leverage Songwriter Features by weaving songwriter narratives into campaigns, highlighting the creators behind hits and enriching music-marketing narratives. The #BehindTheSong feature encourages composers to share personal tales that birthed their hits, providing a unique insight into the creative process.

Brands and music marketers can also collaborate with songwriters to produce co-branded audio content. A 'New' tag highlights fresh releases, and the "Add to Music App" integration lets fans save discoveries directly to their streaming playlists.

The beta launch of Songwriter Features on TikTok marks a new era of credit, discovery, and community for composers. Major publishers Warner Chappell, Kobalt, Reservoir, and Sentric serve as initial partners for the Songwriter Features, as TikTok continues to evolve and strengthen its position in the music industry.

Songwriters can now showcase their creative journeys and catalogs more prominently on TikTok, thanks to the new Songwriter Features that include the Songwriter Account label, Music Tab, #BehindTheSong, 'New' tag, and "Add to Music App" integration. This development on the app, aimed at broadening TikTok's music ecosystem, offers songwriters a platform to share their music, stories, and collaborate with marketers, utilizing social-media for entertainment purposes and extending their reach within the industry.
