Interregional cooperation among THW regional associations is proving effective in the Augsburg region. Two experienced volunteers from Bremerhaven have been coordinating efforts to prevent environmental contamination from a flood-related oil spill.

The THW volunteers from Bremerhaven have been stationed in the flood area since last week. They are managing a newly established separation site, set up by the Augsburg district administration, to keep contaminated water out of the sewage system.

The duo is leading a team of 45 oil spill specialists from various THW regional associations. They are using a computer-controlled separation plant provided by the THW in Bavaria to separate the oil-water mixture. The THW technical group for water purification is playing a crucial role in this operation.

The two THW volunteers from Bremerhaven will continue their work until approximately the beginning of next week. Their coordination and expertise are vital in protecting the environment from further pollution. The interregional cooperation among THW regional associations is ensuring a swift and effective response to the flood-related crisis in Augsburg.
