The upcoming iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max models are set to include a standout feature, potentially prompting numerous users to consider an upgrade of their phones.
In an exciting development for tech enthusiasts, Apple is set to unveil its 2025 flagship iPhone models, the iPhone 17 Pro and 17 Pro Max, with a significant display upgrade. According to MacRumors, these models will boast displays equipped with an anti-reflective layer, designed to enhance visibility in bright conditions by reducing glare.
This technology, while not explicitly referred to as an "exclusive anti-glare coating," is said to be more scratch-resistant than the current Ceramic Shield, improving durability against wear and tear. While Samsung's Gorilla Glass Armor offers similar anti-reflective capabilities, it serves as a comparison rather than an exact parallel.
The display technology, which is planned for mass production, aims to address previous yield issues with the anti-reflective glass. It will be exclusive to the Pro models, with the iPhone 17 and iPhone 17 Air not receiving this upgrade.
Live photo comparisons of the iPhone 16 Pro and Galaxy S25 Ultra support the claim that the new anti-glare coating will indeed improve screen performance. The upgrade is expected to improve contrast on iPhone screens, similar to top Samsung Galaxy models.
The Pro models are also rumoured to have a 48MP telephoto camera, a revamped Dynamic Island, and a record-breaking 5000 mAh battery for the Pro Max models. The base model will feature a 6.3-inch 120Hz display and an improved 24MP selfie camera.
Interestingly, Apple has not focused on anti-glare coating for iPhone displays until now, but offers it for Mac and iPad Pro models. It is also worth noting that the new anti-glare coating will allow iPhone screens to better withstand scratches.
The new iPhone models are anticipated to be presented on September 9 or 10, according to Bloomberg. The iPhone 17 Air is rumoured to have an exceptionally thin body.
