Announcing the Kaia Wave Stablecoin Summer Hackathon
The Kaia Wave Stablecoin Summer Hackathon is set to commence on August 25, 2025, marking an exciting opportunity for Web3 engineers to showcase their innovative USDT-based stablecoin projects and Mini Dapps for LINE Messenger.
Co-hosted by Kaia DLT Foundation, Tether, KakaoPay, and LINE NEXT, this event aims to foster collaboration and growth within the stablecoin DeFi space, particularly focusing on the expansion of Mini Dapps on LINE NEXT. With over 194 million monthly active users, LINE Messenger presents a significant platform for the development and deployment of groundbreaking Dapps.
The hackathon's prize pool totals $170,000, to be distributed among 10 outstanding projects. The top-performing projects even stand a chance to secure up to $1 million in venture capital investment from a list of esteemed partners, including Cicada, Dune Analytics, CertiK, ANKR, Hacken, Animoca Brands, Caladan, SNZ Holding, and other community partners.
The event will begin with an offline kickoff session at WebX Tokyo on Aug. 25, 2025. The finalists will showcase their initiatives at the online Hackathon Final event scheduled for Sept. 30, 2025.
Youngsu Ko, CEO of LINE NEXT, has stated that the hackathon marks a starting point for activating the use of stablecoins globally. As previously covered, Kaia, Tether, and LINE NEXT co-hosted the first Korean stablecoin hackathon earlier this year.
This hackathon's pipeline is aligned with Kaia Wave Season 2, an ecosystem program that supports Mini Dapp builders. Dr. Sam Seo, Chairman of the Kaia DLT Foundation, invites all Web3 engineers to submit their projects based on Kaia's USDT use cases.
The goal of the hackathon is to boost the ecosystem of Mini Dapps on LINE NEXT, unlocking new opportunities for the messenger's users. By helping Kaia connect with global stablecoin DeFi projects, the aim is to identify groundbreaking Dapps to lead the Kaia ecosystem and grow collaboratively.
