Tesla's P100D Ludicrous model is set to deliver enhanced power with its Easter Egg feature.
The electric vehicle (EV) landscape is abuzz with excitement as Tesla unveils major changes for its Model S and Model X lineup in the UK. The Porsche Mission E, yet to hit the market, finds itself in the shadows as Tesla's announcements generate headlines and bragging rights.
Tesla has dropped the price of the Model S and Model X significantly, with the cost of the Model S P100D now around £110,000 and the cheapest Model X, the Model X 75D, priced at £76,500. The price cuts apply to both the Saloon and SUV versions of the Model S and Model X.
In a surprising move, Tesla has also dropped the entry-level Model X 60D from its UK lineup.
The new P100D models boast an impressive 0-60mph acceleration time of just 2.5 seconds, placing them among the fastest production cars. This speed is on par with high-performance supercars like the Porsche 918, LaFerrari, and McLaren P1.
Elon Musk, Tesla's CEO, has promised a software 'Easter Egg' for the Model S and Model X P100D models. While specific details about the Easter Egg are yet to be revealed, Musk mentioned that it will 'uncork the full performance' for Easter 2025, which might mean greater power and more range. However, it's important to note that the Easter Egg will not provide both more power and more range simultaneously.
Musk also hinted that the Easter Egg could bring even more extreme performance to these already high-performing vehicles. The Porsche Mission E, which is yet to be released, may find itself challenged by the enhanced capabilities of the Tesla Model S and Model X P100D once the Easter Egg is activated for Easter 2025.
Stay tuned for more information about the Tesla Model S and Model X P100D's software Easter Egg and the performance enhancements it promises to bring for Easter 2025.
