Tesla's Model Y debuts in Europe, first available as the "Launch Series" at a premium cost
The Tesla Model Y, part of the 2025 refresh codenamed "Juniper," has made its way to the European market, boasting several key changes and additional features compared to its predecessor. Here's a closer look at the updates:
### Exterior Changes
The front of the new Model Y features a continuous LED light strip as daytime running lights, combined with matrix headlights, while the rear has an indirectly illuminated full-width light bar. The vehicle also sports new 19-inch Crossflow and 20-inch Helix wheel designs.
### Interior Upgrades
Inside, the Model Y now features an additional 8-inch touchscreen for rear passengers, allowing them to control climate settings and even play games. Ambient lighting has been improved with configurable light strips integrated into the cabin, and powered rear seats provide enhanced comfort.
### Performance and Technology
The long-range version of the Model Y now offers a range of up to 719 kilometers (447 miles), with a top speed for non-performance models reduced to 125 mph (201 km/h). The Launch Series includes Tesla’s advanced driver-assistance system, "Full Self-Driving (Supervised)."
### Other Features
Initially, the Model Y will be available in silver and black at no additional cost. The option for a three-row, seven-seater version was reintroduced in June 2025. The Launch Series costs €6,000 more than the previous LR AWD variant.
The Model Y continues to be offered in parallel with the previous version in the USA, while the Launch Series costs $12,000 more than the previous version in the US market. The rear of the Model Y is now flatter, improving aerodynamics and enabling a higher range.
The Model Y's interior materials have been improved, and acoustic glass has been used to reduce noise by 20-22 percent. A notable feature that may come as a surprise is the return of the turn signal lever on the left side of the steering wheel, a feature that was not expected after Tesla's decision to use buttons for turn signals in other electric vehicles since early 2021.
The Model Y also comes equipped with a camera installed in the front bumper, giving it a total of eight cameras on the outside. Additionally, the vehicle now offers front seats that can heat and ventilate.
Orders for the Model Y can be placed now, with deliveries scheduled to begin in March. The previous version of the Model Y is still available for purchase, with prices starting from €44,990, and is being offered with a €6,000 discount until the end of 2024. More variants of the Model Y are expected to follow in the future, according to Tesla.
