Tesla Shifts to AMD Ryzen, Unveils Custom Wraps and License Plate Visualizations

Tesla has announced a significant shift in its CPU usage, moving from Intel Atom to AMD Ryzen, and has shared details about upcoming features for its vehicles, including custom wraps and license plate visualizations.

In 2021, Tesla began transitioning its Model S and X to AMD Ryzen CPUs, with the Model 3 and Y following in early 2022. However, not all vehicles may benefit from the latest features due to hardware limitations. For instance, Tesla's upcoming towing monitoring system, slated for the Cybertruck, may not be available in other models due to hardware differences.

Tesla has confirmed that the ability to apply custom wraps and visualize license plates will extend beyond the Cybertruck. This feature, expected in the 2024 Holiday Update for the Cybertruck, will reach the Model S, 3, X, and Y in a future update. While Tesla has confirmed these features for other models, no specific release dates have been provided. Older models with Intel Atom computers may face hardware limitations preventing them from supporting these new features.

Tesla's shift to AMD Ryzen CPUs and the introduction of new features like custom wraps and license plate visualizations are set to enhance its vehicle offerings. While the Cybertruck will lead the way, other models will follow, with the exact timeline yet to be determined. Hardware limitations may impact the availability of these features in older models.
