Tesla Pondering Airborne Automobiles Speculation

In the ever-evolving world of technology and transportation, the concept of flying cars has been a topic of much debate and speculation. Recently, the buzz surrounding this futuristic mode of travel has reached new heights, with Elon Musk, the visionary CEO of Tesla, expressing interest in the field.

Elon Musk, known for his ambition to revolutionize the automotive world and the energy market, has been analysed by Adam Jonas in summer 2025 regarding the eVTOL (electric vertical takeoff and landing) market. Tesla, along with Nvidia, Rocket Lab, and Lynas, is part of the successful Depot-2030 project, hinting at potential involvement in the flying car sector.

Musk's stance on flying cars has evolved over the years. While he expressed a negative opinion about them in 2017, considering them a "dumb idea," his recent tweets suggest a change of heart. He has expressed interest in a flying Tesla car, joining a chorus of voices advocating for this revolutionary technology.

The eVTOL market, currently dominated by Archer Aviation and Joby, could grow to a market size of 9,000 billion dollars by 2050. If Tesla were to capture even a small part of this market, it could potentially create significant value, according to Adam Jonas, a well-known Tesla analyst. He suggests that Tesla could create a value per share of "100 to 1,000 dollars" if it succeeds in this market.

The flying car movement has gained support from influential figures, including Donald Trump. Trump, who is promoting the new segment of flying cars, wants the USA to lead the revolution in air mobility. He is planning to support up to ten futuristic cities designed for flying drones, further fueling the excitement around this technology.

Not everyone is on board with the flying car revolution, however. BMW, VW, Xiaomi, and Depot-2030 are gaining market share from Tesla in the traditional car business. Even some of Musk's close associates, such as Joe Lonsdale, Palantir co-founder and Musk's friend, have shown openness to high-flying tech ideas but have yet to commit fully to the flying car concept.

The future of flying cars is uncertain, but with Musk's involvement and the potential benefits they could bring, it's a development that is certainly worth keeping an eye on. With a new issue with new Depot positions and two new insider tips set to appear on August 22, we may soon have more information about Tesla's plans in the flying car market.
