T-Mobile Expands T-Satellite Service, Adds WhatsApp, Maps, More
T-Mobile is expanding its T-Satellite service, allowing users to access more apps even when off-grid. The service, launched in July after extensive testing, is now available to more users for $10/month on select plans.
Initially supporting apps like Google Messages and Apple Music, T-Mobile has now designated additional apps as 'Satellite-ready'. These include WhatsApp (with voice and video chat capability), Google Maps, AccuWeather, and AllTrails. Users on both Android and iOS can access these apps without a cell signal, starting October 1, 2023.
The expansion comes after T-Mobile's successful testing phase with approximately 1.8 million testers. The company aims to provide a seamless connectivity experience even in remote areas.
T-Mobile's T-Satellite service is now more versatile, offering a wider range of apps for off-grid use. With the addition of popular apps like WhatsApp and Google Maps, users can stay connected and informed even in areas without cellular coverage.
