Switzerland Exhibition: Life, Earth, Enhanced Humankind

The Switzerland pavilion at Expo 2025 Osaka Kansai is a must-visit destination, showcasing a harmonious blend of scientific innovation, cultural elements, and environmental themes. This collaboration between Switzerland and Japan highlights the unique innovations of the Swiss and their strong partnership with Japanese research institutions.

The pavilion is divided into three main thematic zones: Augmented Human, Life, and Planet. These zones explore Swiss innovations in harmony with nature and technology, emphasising the coexistence with the Alpine environment and Switzerland’s environmental leadership.

One of the main attractions is the scientific talks and exhibits on regenerative medicine and next-generation biomedical technologies, such as induced pluripotent stem (iPS) cells. This reflects the strong partnership between Swiss and Japanese research institutions like CiRA and the University of Zurich.

The architectural design of the pavilion is also noteworthy. It is designed as the lightest Swiss Expo pavilion ever, featuring transparent spheres that create a soap-bubble lightness effect. The architecture fuses nature and technology, minimising environmental impact from construction and transportation, embodying a philosophy rooted in the Swiss climate and landscape.

Complementing the exhibitions, the Heidi Café offers visitors traditional Swiss cuisine, enhancing the cultural experience within the pavilion.

However, there are areas in the pavilion where you can see demonstrations of deepfake countermeasures, edible robots, and a chemical reproduction of the smell of comets. It is essential to note that these exhibits are not mentioned in the official information for the Swiss Pavilion and may be part of other country pavilions or special collaborations.

The Switzerland Pavilion is located in the Empowering Lives zone and is one of the national pavilions at Expo 2025. The pavilion also showcases scientific work and cutting-edge technology, similar to earlier exhibits.

Switzerland celebrates its national day on Tuesday, April 22, at the Expo National Day Hall. Visitors can join the celebrations and explore the pavilion's guided tour, in addition to the self-guided exploration. For those looking for a unique dining experience, the rooftop Heidi Café serves cheese dishes and desserts made with Nestlé Kit Kat bars.

Expo 2025 Osaka Kansai begins on April 13, 2025, and ends on October 13. Don't miss out on this exciting opportunity to experience the best of Swiss innovation and culture at the Switzerland Pavilion.
