Suntory Unveils $35,000 Hibiki 40-Year Whisky
Suntory, the renowned Japanese whisky maker, is set to unveil its most luxurious release yet, the Hibiki 40-Year. This exceptional blend, priced at $35,000, is limited to just 400 bottles worldwide. The news comes as Japanese whisky continues to gain global recognition for its exceptional quality.
The Hibiki 40-Year is a masterful blend of five malt and grain whiskies, aged for a total of 40 years. The youngest whisky in the blend hails from Yamazaki, distilled in 1983, while the oldest comes from Hakushu, distilled in 1974. The blend also includes whiskies from Suntory's Chita distillery. After blending, the whisky was aged for an additional six months.
Suntory's whisky-making expertise can be traced back to 1923 when it launched the Yamazaki distillery, Japan's first. The company honed its distillation methods by studying techniques in Scotland, the birthplace of whisky. Today, Japanese whisky is celebrated globally, with brands like Hibiki leading the way.
The Hibiki 40-Year is presented in a stunning crystal glass decanter with 30 facets, mother-of-pearl inlays, and gold lacquer, housed in a box made from 12 different types of Japanese wood. With aromas of Japanese loquat, lemon peel, and clove, and flavors of acacia honey and dry fig, this whisky is a true testament to Suntory's craftsmanship. The release of the Hibiki 40-Year further cements Japanese whisky's place among the world's finest.
