Streamlining Electric Vehicle Fleet Administration in the US with the Debut of Depot360 by Siemens

Siemens Mobility Services has announced the launch of its Depot360 Home Charging Reimbursement solution, a game-changer for fleet operators looking to accelerate their electrification journey. This innovative solution aims to address one of the key challenges in fleet electrification - economically and logistically managing home charging for commercial electric vehicle (EV) drivers.

The Depot360 Home Charging Reimbursement solution works by enabling EV fleet operators to reimburse their drivers for the electricity costs when they charge company-assigned EVs at home overnight. This approach allows fleets to avoid the cost and complexity of installing expensive networked chargers or meters at each driver's residence. Instead, the solution systematically manages reimbursement payments based on verified home charging usage.

Key Benefits for Fleet Operators

The benefits for fleet operators are numerous:

  1. Cost Efficiency: Fleets can significantly reduce upfront infrastructure investments by not requiring costly dedicated home charging hardware for drivers.
  2. Operational Flexibility: Drivers assigned EVs can conveniently charge at home without fleet operators needing to install or maintain equipment at multiple private locations.
  3. Simplified Management: The solution streamlines the administrative burdens of tracking and reimbursing home charging costs, enabling fleet managers to handle this process efficiently within Siemens' Managed Services portfolio.
  4. Accelerated Electrification: By mitigating logistical and financial barriers related to home charging, Depot360 supports faster adoption of electric vehicles across fleet operations.

How it Works

Depot360 Home Charging Reimbursement uses vehicle telematics data and geofencing to measure home charging sessions. This data is then fed into the Depot360 AI platform, which predicts the optimal charging mix for various locations, including depots, public chargers, and homes.

Siemens Mobility Services, part of Siemens Corporation Supply Chain Management, is the first customer to deploy Depot360® Home Charging Reimbursement in the US. The company plans to roll out this solution to 11,000 vehicles by 2030. The collective data from home charging sessions will feed the algorithms of the Depot360 AI platform, allowing for optimization across all fleet charging applications.

A Step Towards Sustainability

Home charging will give fleet operators the opportunity to reduce energy costs by leveraging scale via aggregation. Furthermore, Depot360 Home Charging Reimbursement aims to reduce capital investments and operational costs for fleet operators. The solution reduces upfront infrastructure costs and ongoing operational expenses, making fleet electrification a more financially viable option.

Adam Orth, US Head of Fleet at Siemens Mobility Services, states that the internal identification of the optimal solution underscores the depth of Siemens' in-house expertise. Depot360 Home Charging Reimbursement is part of Siemens' Managed Services portfolio and is a significant step towards achieving both profitability and sustainability goals for fleet operators.

For more information, visit ACT Expo booth #4315. Depot360 solutions will continue to develop, supporting fleet operators in unlocking additional energy savings and revenue streams. The solutions may also enable fleets to participate in energy programs and provide insights to measure program effectiveness.
