Believe it or not, Nukeproof's owners are secretly working on a brand-new model of the Megawatt e-bike, using a motor from SRAM and set to hit the market in 2028. The announcement comes from Nukeproof's new owners, who acquired the dormant brand from Frasers Group earlier this year. The Megawatt will be the flagship bike of Belgium Cycling Factory, a group with ambitious plans for the brand that go beyond just peddling existing stock. The new Megawatt will be the result of a close partnership with SRAM, similar to their initial collaboration back in the day. This partnership has already begun a few months ago, according to Jochim Aerts, the CEO of BCF, who shared this exclusive information with mbr.

Exclusive scoop on Jochim Aerts revitalizing Nukeproof with next-gen Megawatt and SRAM Powertrain 2.0

Get ready to dust off your mountain biking helmets, because the iconic Nukeproof brand is making a comeback with a bang. According to Jochim Aerts, the new boss of Belgium Cycling Factory (BCF), the team behind the Nukeproof revival, the long-awaited next generation Megawatt e-bike is on the horizon, all powered by none other than SRAM's latest motor.

Since snatching up Nukeproof from the Frasers Group in 2024, BCF has been quietly working on bringing the beloved brand back to life. And it looks like the Megawatt will be their flagship product, scheduled to drop in 2028.

But what about SRAM's new motor? While we can't confirm if the Megawatt will be rocking Powertrain 2.0, we've heard whispers of a potential patent application for a wrap-around battery design with 39 cells and a 800Wh power pack. The motor itself seems to resemble a concentric design, slung low on the bike. We'll have to wait and see if the patent turns into a reality, but it sure looks promising.

BCF has recruited some familiar faces to help bring Nukeproof back to the top. Former head frame engineer Dale McMullan, who has been responsible for designing Nukeproof bikes since 2009, has returned to the fold. The team added three other ex-CRC employees, all bringing their A-game in areas like kinematics, engineering, brand management, marketing, and sales.

Look forward to a summer of goodies, as we expect the old Nukeproof Megawatt with Powertrain motor to drop sometime soon and possibly the return of fan-favorite accessories like wheels, pedals, and Nukeproof-branded clothing. And let's not forget about the potential for new products still in development - BCF promises to deliver the same precision development Nukeproof has been known for over the last 10 years.

It's a new era for Nukeproof, and it's looking more exciting than ever. So suit up, mtb enthusiasts, and get ready to ride the wave of the next generation Megawatt!

The upcoming Nukeproof Megawatt e-bike is anticipated to leverage SRAM's latest e-bike motor, bolstering its technological prowess. As inventive gadgets go, this advancement in mountain biking lifestyle could well be a game-changer, particularly when paired with the sleek design and performance of electric vehicles.
