Spotlight on GLI-GSF: Unveiling the Security Framework for Game Industry Safeguards
Gaming's Top Dog, GLI, Unleashes New Security Framework
Fed up with the lack of specific gaming-related cybersecurity measures, Gaming Laboratories International (GLI) decided it was time for a change. Using their 35 years of gaming industry expertise, they teamed up with Bulletproof to develop a gaming-security specific framework.
This groundbreaking move came about due to multiple regulators inquiring if there were any gaming-focused cybersecurity measures they could adhere to, to which GLI had to respond negatively. However, they soon set out to change that.
"The usual standards available like NIST, NSC, and CIS are great, but they're quite general," explains Joe Bunevith, GLI's Vice-President of Government and Regulatory Affairs. "We wanted to create something tailored to the gaming industry."
Fast forward to the upcoming 25th Regulators Roundtable at Palms Las Vegas (April 16-17), and GLI will be rolling out the first two modules of their new Gaming Security Framework (GLI-GSF). These modules, GLI-GSF-1 and GLI-GSF-2, focus on the Common Controls necessary for auditing gaming organizations.
When asked about future plans, Bunevith reveals they will begin working on individual modules focusing on vendors for physical retail locations, iGaming, Sportsbook, cloud computing cashless systems, artificial intelligence, lottery, and more areas. While developing these modules will take time, collaboration between GLI's subject matter experts and Bulletproof Solutions ensures they get it right.
The GLI-GSF is built on a culmination of gaming industry best practices, with each module outlining specific controls for various sections of the gaming industry. These modules are free to download on the GLI website, with more on the way.
Keep an eye on the horizon, as this is just the beginning for GLI. By providing tools for suppliers, operators, and regulators alike, they hope to bring unity and fair play to the gaming world. As Bunevith puts it, "We want to provide the tools for everybody in the gaming industry to be on the same page."
