Space Marine, the acclaimed Warhammer 40,000 title, is Long Overdue for a Remaster

Updating News: "Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine" Heads to Modern Gaming with Master Crafted Edition

A year following its sequel's release, the original "Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine" is making a comeback in contemporary gaming. Developed by SneakyBox, this updated version promises a rejuvenated gaming experience, with a focus on preserving the original's charm while enhancing it for a new generation of players.

The Master Crafted Edition of the third-person shooter game comes with graphical updates, a modern user interface, and revised control scheme, in addition to a visual upgrade for the Orks to match their current representation in the franchise's official canon. The new edition also boasts over 100 new voice lines for a more immersive experience.

Originally released in 2011 as a project of Relic Entertainment, the game received generally positive reviews. Despite plans for sequels, the development fell apart following the closure of its publisher, THQ. In 2013, Sega acquired Relic Entertainment and re-released the game on PC. In 2021, Saber Interactive disclosed its intentions to develop the sequel for publisher Focus Entertainment, which released to favorable reviews in 2024. The rights for the original "Space Marine" remain with Sega, who, as of now, have not announced a PlayStation 5 version of the Master Crafted Edition.

Gamers desiring to experience the updated edition will have to purchase it for PC or Xbox Series X|S from June 10, 2025, or opt for Xbox Game Pass. A PlayStation 5 version remains unannounced at this time.
