South Korea and Vietnam formalize collaboration agreement in the gaming sector

HO CHI MINH CITY - South Korean and Vietnamese gaming organizations have forged a new alliance

In a significant development, representatives from Vietnam's Authority of Broadcasting and Electronic Information, the Korean Game Culture Foundation, and the Game Product Administration Committee of South Korea signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) at the Vietnam GameVerse event in Ho Chi Minh City on May 27.

The partnership aims to foster joint development and production in the gaming industry across both countries. It encompasses exchanges on game rating systems, eSports engagement, and workforce training programs to enrich the gaming sector in both nations.

"As the game industry evolves rapidly in Vietnam, we anticipate mutually beneficial cooperation in various areas, including policy-level sharing," stated Choi Jae-hwan, Director of the Game Content Industry Division at South Korea's Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.

Invited by the Vietnamese authorities, South Korean counterparts were welcomed at the GameVerse, a two-day conference organized by the Authority of Broadcasting and Electronic Information together with FPT Online and the Vietnamese Game Alliance.

Its third edition, held this year, showcased a substantially larger scale, twice the size of the previous year and five times larger than the inaugural event. The gathering was marked by the attendance of prominent Vietnamese gaming companies such as VTC, VTC Online, VNG, Garena, Gamota, Funtap, Gosu, and Soha, along with global publishers and technology firms.

The event featured B2B and B2C sessions, industry forums, cosplay programs, and eSports competitions. This year also saw the participation of various South Korean studios, including Busidol, Geniesoft, and Readymade.

The partnership between South Korea and Vietnam reflects a mutual commitment to the growth, global expansion, and cultural integration of the gaming industries in both countries. With support from the Korean Cultural Center in Vietnam and the Korea Creative Content Agency Vietnam Center, the newly signed MoU marks a major leap forward in strengthening ties between Vietnamese and South Korean gaming businesses and cultural organizations.
