The Sony Reader Daily Edition, the latest addition to Sony's line of e-readers, has officially gone on sale. This 7-inch e-ink touchscreen device is designed for comfortable reading on the go.
The Daily Edition boasts a variety of features, including intuitive content zoom, automatic multiple page creation, adjustable contrast and brightness settings, and a personalized standby screen. The device also comes with collections functionality, a built-in dictionary function, and is pre-loaded with 10 translation dictionaries.
One of the standout features of the Sony Reader Daily Edition is its brushed aluminum chassis, which lends an air of sophistication to the device. Shipping for the Daily Edition is scheduled to begin tomorrow.
The Daily Edition supports additional file formats, including ePub (Adobe DRM protected), PDF (Adobe DRM protected), BBeB Book (PRS DRM protected), Text, and RTF DRM-encrypted files. It is the largest among the new generation of e-readers from Sony, measuring 7.87 x 5.04 x 0.38 inches and weighing 9.6oz.
The Daily Edition is priced at $299 and comes bundled with free Wi-Fi and AT&T 3G access. While the 3G access is limited to connecting to the Sony Reader store, it's a convenient feature for those who prefer automatic downloads of newspapers and magazines.
The Daily Edition also comes preloaded with a selection of popular websites, including Google.com, Wikipedia.org, Twitter.com, Facebook.com, cnbc.com, and cnet.com.
