Salt Security Launches First API Security Solution for Autonomous AI Agents

Salt Security has launched a pioneering solution to secure APIs used by autonomous AI agents within enterprise systems. The product, Agentic AI Governance, aims to address the growing challenge of managing AI agent interactions and the lack of dedicated API security solutions in the market.

Salt Security's offering, Agentic AI Governance, provides immediate visibility, automated governance, and active defence for API-driven operations that underpin AI agent activity. The solution includes MCP Protect, which discovers and monitors all MCP servers and their interactions with AI agents, providing organisations with visibility into previously hidden API connections.

Industry analysts recommend supplementing standard API gateways with specialist API security solutions to tackle the growing use of agentic AI. Currently, only 37% of organisations implementing agentic AI employ a dedicated API security solution, leaving many vulnerable to unmonitored agentic exposures. Salt Security's solution addresses this vulnerability gap, safeguarding API actions taken by AI agents within enterprise systems.

Vice President of Product Strategy at Salt Security, Nick Rago, highlighted the challenge enterprises face in managing the growing use of agentic AI. Co-founder and Chief Operating Officer Michael Nicosia emphasized the importance of immediate coverage for previously unmonitored agentic exposures. Gartner projects that by 2028, 80% of organisations will see AI agents consuming the majority of their APIs, underscoring the need for robust API security measures.

Salt Security's Agentic AI Governance introduces out-of-the-box security controls that enforce safer AI agent behaviours and automatically detect and address high-risk exposures. While other solutions like Prisma SASE 4.0 by Palo Alto Networks and Trend Micro's Trend Vision One offer cybersecurity features, Salt Security's offering is the first focused specifically on safeguarding API actions taken by AI agents within enterprise systems. As AI agents become more prevalent, organisations are urged to adopt specialist API security solutions to protect their systems and data.
