SAIC-Volkswagen Appoints New Logistics Heads to Boost Efficiency and Sustainability
SAIC-Volkswagen, a leading automaker in China, has announced significant changes in its logistics management. The company, which offers over 15 model families and operates nine manufacturing plants, has appointed Oliver Bronder as the new head of logistics. Bronder succeeds Dr Susanne Lehmann, who has moved to manage VW Group in Malaysia.
Bronder, who previously led vehicle logistics for the Volkswagen Group, brings a wealth of experience to his new role. He has been instrumental in navigating supply chain disruptions and driving decarbonisation efforts, as discussed at the 2024 Automotive Logistics & Supply Chain Europe conference. His appointment comes after Simon Motter, head of Volkswagen Group Logistics, thanked Bronder for their successful collaboration over the past three years.
Meanwhile, Peter Hoerndlein, who previously led procurement for the bus division at MAN Truck and Bus, will take over as managing director for vehicle logistics at Volkswagen Group Logistics on 1 June. Hoerndlein, who has held leading logistics roles at BMW Group, aims to focus on reliability, transparency, and the strategic importance of logistics within the VW Group. His appointment follows Ma Lu taking over logistics management at SAIC-Volkswagen earlier this year.
With Bronder's appointment, SAIC-Volkswagen expects to build on its logistics strengths, further improving efficiency and sustainability. Hoerndlein's leadership at Volkswagen Group Logistics is also set to enhance the group's logistics capabilities, focusing on reliability and strategic importance.
