Russian Officials Warn of Digital Device Dangers for Children
Russia's Education Minister, Sergei Kravtsov, and Olga Vasilyeva, head of the Russian Authors' Society, have jointly advised caution regarding children's use of digital devices. They warn of potential psychological harm and online threats.
Kravtsov, a psychologist by profession, believes excessive screen time can hinder the development of key psychological functions in young minds. He advises students under 16 to limit their use of mobile phones and other gadgets. While a teacher supported this recommendation, their identity remains unknown.
Vasilyeva, echoing Kravtsov's concerns, warns about the challenges of digital technologies. She highlights the risks of mind manipulation and fraud, particularly for preschoolers. She suggests educators should be knowledgeable to protect young children from these virtual threats.
Both Kravtsov and Vasilyeva emphasize the importance of digital literacy and responsible use of technology. They urge educators to guide children and parents on safe and balanced digital habits, especially for young students.
