Rome's MIX Unveiling: 270 Networks Expand within the Milan Internet Exchange Point

In a significant move to enhance Rome's digital landscape, MIX (Milan Internet Exchange) and Cloud Europe have announced a strategic partnership aimed at developing the digital market of the Italian capital. This collaboration is set to establish a new local Internet Exchange and a remote lan for ISPs not currently connected to MIX.

At the heart of this partnership is the creation of MIX-Roma, a new local peering point dedicated to the Central Italy ecosystem. This development is expected to provide numerous benefits for both small-to-medium-sized ISPs and large content providers.

For small and medium-sized ISPs, this partnership offers improved network performance, cost efficiency, enhanced content delivery, scalability, and increased reliability and redundancy. By peering locally, ISPs can reduce latency, jitter, and packet loss for end-users, access popular content from large providers more quickly, and grow their business without major infrastructure investment.

On the other hand, large content providers stand to gain from lower latency for end-users, traffic offload, improved user experience, strategic market presence, and enhanced network visibility and control. By colocating at Rome’s peering point, content providers can deliver data more quickly and reliably to local ISPs and their customers, reducing transit costs, and ensuring high-quality connectivity.

The Cloud Europe data center, located at Tiburtino Tecnopolo, serves as the host for MIX-Roma. Spanning over 60,000 square meters, it is a major technological hub in Italy, and the Rome data center is currently the main point of exchange for national and international telecommunications operators in Central Italy.

Cloud Europe's Green Data Center TIER IV is carrier independent and has been designed with a focus on sustainability and low environmental impact. The data center campus, which is expected to continue growing due to the volume of data from data centers and submarine cables under construction, offers an ideal solution for business continuity.

Giulio Iucci, CEO of Cloud Europe, stated that various clients, including hyperscalers, banks, system integrators, and streaming platforms, have chosen Cloud Europe for its specific configuration and proximity to Central Italy's final users. Cristiano Zanforlin, Chief Commercial Officer of MIX, expressed that the symbiotic development between Internet Exchange and Carrier-Neutral Data Center is a pillar of digital infrastructures in all countries.

MIX considers Cloud Europe to be the ideal partner for a cooperative alliance and the growth of the sector. With the partnership between MIX and Cloud Europe, Rome is poised to become a major player in Italy's digital market.

Energy-efficient technology will be incorporated into the development of MIX-Roma, as Cloud Europe's Green Data Center TIER IV, hosting the new local peering point, focuses on sustainability and low environmental impact. This strategic collaboration between MIX and Cloud Europe in Rome's digital landscape is anticipated to drive the adoption of data-and-cloud-computing technology, ultimately contributing to the energy-efficient expansion of the Italian digital market.
