Review of Dell S3225QC: Affordable 32-inch 4K QD-OLED Display for Impressive Gaming Experience

The Samsung S3225QC is a 120Hz 4K OLED monitor that has been making waves in the tech world. This monitor offers a balance of features, performance, and affordability that sets it apart from its competitors.

In the realm of gaming, the S3225QC presents a mixed picture. Rapid movements on the screen are a bit smeary, but Adaptive-Sync ensures there are no frame tears. However, when compared to 240Hz screens, its motion resolution falls short, making it less suitable for the best players.

Where the S3225QC truly shines is in its screen uniformity. The screen uniformity test of the S3225QC was exceptionally good, resulting in a score of 2.41%. This score is among the best recorded in the test database, with the top view on the monitor showing barely any change to brightness or colour. This consistency across the screen makes the S3225QC a very shareable monitor.

The monitor's gamma and output also stay constant at all angles, providing a superior viewing experience. This is a feature that OLED technology inherently offers, ensuring near-perfect viewing angles with consistent colour and contrast across wide angles.

In terms of cost, the S3225QC is a more affordable option compared to its 240Hz counterparts. While it may lack some of the premium features found in high-end 240Hz OLEDs, it offers a premium experience at a more accessible price point.

When considering key differences between 120Hz 4K OLED monitors like the Samsung S3225QC and 240Hz models, several aspects stand out. Pixel response times are very good on OLED panels at 120Hz, but higher refresh rates improve motion clarity further. Input lag is slightly higher on the S3225QC compared to higher refresh rate monitors, noticeable in competitive gaming. Screen uniformity, while excellent on the S3225QC, may lack some of the premium uniformity tuning seen in high-end 240Hz OLEDs.

However, the S3225QC excels in audio quality with a unique soundbar system, offering a very immersive sound experience that is often missed by gaming monitors. This makes it a better choice for casual gaming and multimedia.

In summary, the Samsung S3225QC offers excellent image quality, superior viewing angles, immersive audio, and better cost efficiency but lags behind 240Hz OLED models in motion clarity and input lag. For casual gamers or professionals, the difference between 120Hz and 240Hz OLED in day-to-day use might be marginal. However, for competitive gamers, the advantages of 240Hz OLEDs, such as sharper motion and lower input lag, may be worth the substantial price premium.
