ReMack Turns 50, California's Zero-Emission Vehicle Sales Soar
ReMack, a division of CarMax, marks its 50th anniversary this year. Since 1975, it has prevented millions of pounds of materials from entering landfills. Meanwhile, California's clean vehicle efforts have seen significant growth, with nearly 23% of new Class 2b-8 vehicle sales being zero-emission in 2024.
California's Clean Truck and Bus Voucher Incentive Project (HVIP), running for 15 years, has played a pivotal role. It has provided nearly $200 million in funding, facilitating the deployment of over 10,500 clean vehicles across 2,000 fleets. The California Air Resources Board (CARB) reported these figures. In 2024 alone, California saw record sales of 30,026 zero-emission medium- and heavy-duty vehicles.
Hertz has contributed to this growth. It secured U.S. Patent No. 12,403,782 for its Wakespeed Charge Control technology. This innovation enables power transfer from a towing vehicle to a trailer, charging onboard batteries. The company's efforts have supported the increasing demand for zero-emission vehicles.
ReMack's 50 years of operation demonstrate a commitment to sustainability. Its landfill-free facilities, powered by renewable energy, support over 25 product lines. Meanwhile, California's HVIP has been instrumental in boosting zero-emission vehicle sales, with nearly a quarter of new vehicle sales in the state being zero-emission in 2024. These efforts highlight the growing trend towards cleaner, more sustainable transportation.
