Real-time developments at Labelexpo 2025 event unfolding now
Labelexpo Europe 2025, taking place at Fira Gran Via in Barcelona from September 16th to 19th, promises to be a major platform for advancing label and packaging printing technology with a strong emphasis on sustainability and automation.
Over 650 exhibitors will showcase their innovations, including live demonstrations of flexo, digital, and hybrid printing presses, automated finishing systems, AI workflows, digital embellishment, and laser die-cutting technologies.
Sustainability is a key focus of the event, with a dedicated educational program and exhibitors showcasing sustainable materials and technology. Companies such as Kneipp will introduce new sustainable materials like biobased plastics, rPET, rPP, grass paper, silphium paper, cork from industrial waste, and wood fiber compounds for packaging. Sappi will present high-barrier papers designed for food packaging, emphasizing recyclability and product protection.
Fujifilm will showcase the Jet Press FP790, a water-based digital inkjet press designed for flexible packaging, and the Revoria Press SC285S, a '5UPER COLOUR' press with an additional speciality toner station. The FP790 promises to revolutionize the flexible packaging industry with its water-based ink, reducing environmental impact. The Revoria Press SC285S, on the other hand, offers exceptional quality and versatility, ideal for a wide range of printing applications.
Atlantic Zeiser's late-stage printing technology supports the industry-wide GS1 Sunrise 2027 initiative by enabling the embedding of diverse data directly into 2D codes. Their CodeVault software solution, to be showcased at the event, streamlines code creation and distribution across multiple printing-houses and production sites, enabling robust and automated serialization workflows.
Xeikon introduces the TX300 narrow-web press with TITON toner technology for label production. The TX300 offers resilience similar to UV inkjet and regulatory confidence of dry toner, making it an attractive option for the label industry. Xeikon's TITON technology offers composition compliance and migration technical compliance for food applications.
Major advances in machine automation and AI are expected on the show floor. Siegwerk will showcase its latest ink and coating developments for labels and packaging printing, including solutions that meet the German Ink Ordinance (GIO). Henkel Adhesive Technologies will demonstrate recyclable and repulpable adhesives for labels, including wash-off PSAs for PET bottles and repulpable adhesives for paper labels.
The Pulse Arena will provide a stage for education and networking, with a focus on sustainability, AI, and automation. The Label Academy will deliver master classes on "Folding Cartons for Label Converters" and "RFID Technology".
Taghleef Industries has introduced a proprietary technology for detachable in-mould label films, designed to separate cleanly during mechanical recycling. TITON toner technology allows premium results on coated and uncoated papers as well as polypropylene (PP) facestocks without the need for varnish.
Labelexpo Europe 2025 offers opportunities for the industry to connect and celebrate, including a pre-show industry run, Festa Barcelona, and a dedicated Girls Who Print event. The event represents a major platform for advancing label and packaging printing technology with a strong emphasis on sustainability and automation.
