Qualys Helps Secure EOL Windows Systems with VM Platform Updates

Qualys, a leading cybersecurity company, has announced updates to its Vulnerability Management (VM) platform to help customers identify and manage systems nearing end-of-life (EOL) for Windows 7, Windows 2008, and Windows 2008 R2. These updates include new EOL QIDs and informational QIDs for extended security updates (ESU).

Customers can now scan for EOL QIDs using Qualys VM. The best methods for identifying vulnerable hosts are Qualys Cloud Agent and authenticated scanning. The new EOL QIDs for Windows 7, 2008, and 2008 R2 are QID 105793, 105858, and 105859 respectively. These will be included in Qualys Vulnerability Signature version 2.4.815-2 and manifest version 2.4.815-2.1.

The Reporting Toolbox: Focused Search Lists v1.5 will also include EOL OS tracking widgets that incorporate these new QIDs. A QQL query can be used to search for impacted hosts in the VM Dashboard. However, it's important to note that the search results do not provide specific information about which news outlet will offer future ESU support for these systems.

Qualys VM will provide informational QIDs to identify ESU support on Windows 7 and 2008/R2 systems, helping customers plan their migration strategies.

With these updates, Qualys VM offers customers enhanced visibility into their EOL systems, enabling them to better manage risks and plan for future security updates. The new EOL QIDs and informational QIDs are set to be released in signature version VULNSIGS-2.4.815-2, ensuring customers have the tools they need to stay secure as these systems reach their end-of-life.
