Qatar Airways Relying on Boeing Aircraft for Operation

In a significant move for the aviation industry, Boeing has secured a historic order from Qatar Airways for 210 wide-body aircraft, including 130 787 Dreamliners and 30 777X jets, with an additional 50 options. This deal, valued at approximately $96 billion, was announced during U.S. President Donald Trump's visit to Qatar.

The 787 Dreamliner, renowned for its high fuel efficiency and modern cabin amenities, is a preferred choice for long-haul flights. The 777X, Boeing's latest development, is intended to replace the existing 777 fleet in the medium term. With innovative technologies and improved range, the 777X is seen as a beacon of hope for Boeing in the coming years.

High-ranking representatives from Boeing, including then-CEO Dennis Muilenburg, were present at the meeting. The current CEO, Kelly Ortberg, was also involved in the negotiation of the aircraft order with Qatar Airways.

This order secures important market shares for Boeing in the lucrative long-haul segment. The U.S. government welcomes investments like the one from Qatar Airways as proof of economic partnerships between the USA and the Gulf states.

The market introduction of the 777X is planned for next year, after repeated delays in development in recent years. The options in the Boeing order give Qatar Airways the flexibility to order additional aircraft as needed.

This Boeing order from Qatar Airways is the largest for Boeing wide-body aircraft in the history of the U.S. aircraft manufacturer, securing multi-billion-dollar revenues for Boeing. U.S. President Donald Trump's visit to the Gulf region coincides with the signing of the Boeing-Qatar Airways contract, marking a significant milestone in U.S.-Gulf relations.
