Magdeburg's 2nd North-South Connection Construction Site Tours Announced
The Magdeburg Public Transport Company GmbH & Co. KG (MVB) has announced guided tours of the 4th section of the 2nd North-South connection in Magdeburg. These tours offer a unique opportunity to learn about the project's goals, current construction progress, and the importance of the new tram line for traffic.
The 3.5-kilometer track, which will close an important gap in the Magdeburg tram network, runs partly along the city motorway Magdeburger Ring. The opening of the tram line is scheduled for 2028 and the project is funded by the state of Saxony-Anhalt.
The guided tours will take place on August 12, 2025, at 16:00 and August 13, 2025, at 14:00. Each tour will last approximately two hours and will include a walk over the Magdeburg Ring. High-visibility vests and hard hats will be provided by the MVB, and wearing safety shoes is mandatory during the tour.
Registration is required to participate in the guided tours. Interested individuals should register via email to [email protected]. The registration should include the keyword "construction site tour", the desired date, and your full name and address.
Please note that the site is not barrier-free, making participation with wheelchairs, walking aids, or orthopedic aids impossible. Children and young people under 14 years old are not permitted to participate. Photography and video recording during the tour are not allowed.
During the tour, participants will have the chance to directly exchange with the project managers. The focus will be on the improved connection of neighboring districts and the contribution to sustainable mobility development in Magdeburg.
In exceptional cases, sturdy footwear may be worn at your own risk. The number of participants is limited, and registration will only be considered binding upon receipt of written confirmation.
For accurate registration procedures, tour schedules, and comprehensive safety instructions, it is recommended to consult the official website of the Magdeburg city administration, the construction company involved, or local transport authority.
