In a significant move towards more comprehensive climate risk management, Intercontinental Exchange (ICE) has integrated Dun & Bradstreet's global private company data into its climate risk platform. This collaboration aims to empower businesses to make informed, sustainable decisions.

According to Brian Filanowski, General Manager of Finance & Risk Solutions at Dun & Bradstreet, this integration represents a pivotal advancement in helping organizations uncover and manage climate-related vulnerabilities across their global operations.

The fusion of the two platforms significantly enhances portfolio-level climate risk management by filling critical data blind spots related to private companies. This integration provides physical and transition risk data for over five million private companies worldwide, encompassing detailed metrics on exposure to flooding, wildfires, hurricanes, extreme heat and cold, as well as Scope 1, 2, and 3 greenhouse gas emissions and emissions intensity normalized by revenue.

One of the key benefits of this integration is the visibility it offers into extended supply chains and corporate footprints. The use of Dun & Bradstreet’s trusted D-U-N-S® Number system provides granular insight into these areas, allowing investors to uncover climate vulnerabilities beyond publicly listed firms.

Moreover, ICE’s platform now offers unified climate risk analytics across public and private companies, sovereigns, municipal bonds, and mortgage-backed securities. This consistency enables investors and asset managers to adopt a holistic portfolio-level risk management approach.

The enriched data enables professional investors, asset managers, and organizations to identify, quantify, and manage both physical climate hazards and transition risks in a more informed way, supporting sustainable investment decisions. This integration also addresses the challenge of data blind spots in private company risk assessment, leading to an "all-in-one solution with complete portfolio coverage."

The combination of this new dataset with existing ICE climate solutions provides real-time hazard monitoring and cross-asset insights for institutional investors. This integration is expected to encourage broader climate-conscious investment, particularly in regions heavily reliant on private enterprises, such as Africa.
