Top-Rated Tablets of 2025: Apple Dominates Consumer Reports

Premium tablets take lead in Warentest's assessment

Is an Apple tablet on your wishlist? Maybe you don't have to tick the 'want' box and get one of the best new tablets instead. According to Consumer Reports, three out of the top four tablets they tested recently are from Apple. The number one tablet, the iPad (11th-gen) with a 13-inch display and M3 chip, stands out for its impressive performance and quality. Although it may cost over €900, the budget-friendly iPad with an A16 chip is the clear price-performance winner, averaging just €390 online. Surprisingly, Samsung, Microsoft, and OnePlus fell short on price-performance.

Apple iPad (11th-gen) and iPad Air: The iPhone of Tablets

From media consumption to gaming, education, and basic content creation, iPads are versatile devices that cater to a wide range of user needs. The iPad (11th-gen) with its advanced A16 Bionic chip and 13-inch Liquid Retina Display is an all-round performer, capable of handling heavy-duty tasks without breaking a sweat. Priced at an average of €908, the higher-end iPad Air with a 13-inch display and M3 chip is just €795. Both iPads received good ratings for functions, display, endurance, and handling. However, their battery performance is only satisfactory.

Lenovo Yoga Tab Plus: A Close Contender

The Lenovo Yoga Tab Plus, with an overall score of 1.8, ranks just behind the iPad (11th-gen). This high-performance Android tablet features a large screen, good endurance, and strong performance across all categories. The device costs about €795, making it expensive but still very competitive. Lenovo also includes a keyboard and stylus with the tablet, adding to its appeal.

Samsung, Microsoft, OnePlus: Missing the Price-Performance Mark

Several high-end tablets offered by Samsung, Microsoft, and OnePlus failed to reach the iPad's performance-to-price ratio. The Samsung Galaxy Tab S10 Ultra, for instance, costs approximately €1069 but only offers satisfactory battery performance and mostly good ratings. In comparison, the iPad (11th-gen) is a real bargain, offering much more value at an average of €390.

The Importance of Performance-to-Price Ratio

When choosing a tablet, it's crucial to consider the balance between performance and price. While top-of-the-line devices may offer superior features, there's no denying the appeal of the iPad (11th-gen) with its excellent performance, versatile capabilities, and affordable price tag. By prioritizing performance-to-price ratio, consumers can make a smart and satisfying investment in their technology needs.

Vocational training programs within the community could benefit from incorporating the use of smartphones and tablets, such as the iPad (11th-gen), for educational and content creation purposes due to their cost-effectiveness and versatile capabilities.

The Lenovo Yoga Tab Plus, being priced at €795, is a strong contender in the tablet market, providing good performance and endurance, and could be an ideal gadget for technology-based vocational training courses.
