Power provider ACEL partners with Zero-Emission Vessel manufacturer Iconic for groundbreaking global debut of the Porrima P111

ACEL Power Propels World's First Zero-Carbon Vessel

Vancouver, BC - It's full steam ahead for ACEL Power Inc., Canada's trailblazer in intelligent electric propulsion systems, as they dive into the thrilling venture of powering the Porrima P111 – the world's first zero-carbon vessel on a globe-trotting mission sans fossil fuels. This partnership marks the beginning of a partnership with Porrima, focused on expanding the integration of intelligent electric systems in future vessels.

Originally launched with a Swiss stamp in 2010, Porrima made waves by completing four planetary tours fueled entirely by renewable energy. After docking in Taiwan in 2023, the vessel underwent more than a year of high-tech makeover in southern Taiwan. The revamped ship, now christened Porrima P111, represents global collaboration in marine innovation and eco-friendliness.

The grand unveiling ceremony took place on May 22, 2025, at Xingda Port, Kaohsiung City. The event was orchestrated by Porrima co-founder Stan Shih, with Taiwan's Minister of Foreign Affairs Lin Chia-lung, Palau President Surangel Whipps Jr., and First Lady Valerie Whipps adding their presence. The attendance of Pacific leaders mirrors the growing synergy among technology, sustainability, and diplomacy – a vision ACEL Power shares as they expand into Asia-Pacific markets.

In this groundbreaking collaboration, ACEL Power is teaming up with Porrima to equip the vessel’s Rigid Inflatable Boat (RIB) tender with its Intelligent Electric Series, utilizing its 50HP system backed by a 40Kwh battery pack. This integration signifies a quantum leap towards intelligent marine mobility, combining zero-emission performance with digitalization. Together, ACEL and Porrima are setting a new standard for sustainable, smart marine innovation worldwide. By participating in this flagship project, ACEL Power is proud to join forces with a global community of innovators envisioning a greener future for marine travel.

Co-founded by Acer Group founder Stan Shih and Blue Economy author Gunter Pauli, Porrima set its sights on net-zero marine innovation as a cornerstone of future industries. The retrofitting process was led by an interdisciplinary alliance spearheaded by Shih, harnessing Taiwan's industrial prowess to create a new zero-carbon marine supply chain.

"This moment marks both a celebration of the past and a bold stride into the future," said Anthony Liu, CEO of ACEL Power. "We're honored to be a part of Porrima's odyssey and thrilled to expand access to electric propulsion through our partnership with VIVIC."
