Police in Stade Introduce Online Interrogations for Faster Case Processing
Starting April 1, 2025, the police station in Stade will introduce online interrogations for certain crimes. This move aims to process cases faster, more cost-effectively, and efficiently, while also relieving citizens. The pilot phase will run until September 30, 2025.
The new system will be used for simple to medium crimes such as hit-and-run incidents, bodily harm, theft, or property damage. The police ensure that these online interrogations are conducted legally and fairly, mirroring face-to-face interrogations. During these virtual interviews, police will not ask for sensitive data like PIN or TAN numbers.
This initiative is led by Polizeidirektor Oliver Suckow, the responsible police chief of the police headquarters in Lüneburg. The police station in Stade will be the first to trial this new method, with the goal of improving the overall efficiency of the justice system.
From April 1, 2025, citizens in Stade can expect a change in the way some criminal cases are handled. Online interrogations aim to streamline the process, reduce costs, and ease the burden on citizens. The pilot phase will last until the end of September 2025, with the police committed to ensuring the fairness and legality of these virtual interviews.
