Polestar's Precept Unveils Revolutionary Digital Rearview Mirror

Polestar, the electric performance car brand, has unveiled a groundbreaking feature in its latest model, the Polestar Precept. The digital rearview mirror marks a significant departure from traditional car design, offering improved safety and passenger comfort.

Ola Aldensjö, product manager of the Polestar 4, explains that the primary goal of this innovation is to enhance both safety and passenger comfort. The digital rearview mirror uses a 2.5-megapixel camera with a 121-degree field of view to provide real-time information to the cabin's 8.9-inch HD display. This offers a clearer picture of the road behind, especially in poor lighting or rainy conditions.

The digital rearview mirror can be toggled to function as a traditional mirror, providing visibility of the vehicle's rear when needed. This innovation not only improves safety but also opens up space in the back of the car, enhancing passenger comfort and experience. It's a departure from the traditional rearview mirror, which has remained largely unchanged for over a century.

Polestar has introduced the digital rearview mirror in the Polestar Precept, initially showcased in the concept car. This innovation, similar to the racers of the early 20th century who pioneered the use of rearview mirrors, signals a new era in car design, focusing on safety, comfort, and technological advancement.
