PM Chinh Urges GE Vernova to Boost Investment in Vietnam's Power Sector

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has urged US-based company GE Vernova to boost its investment in Vietnam. The meeting with the company's leadership discussed expanding projects in power generation, transmission, and research and development, with a focus on sustainability and human resource development.

Chinh praised GE Vernova's active involvement in key power projects in Vietnam and commended their commitment to green electrification. María Victoria 'Marí' Zíngoni, CEO for Power at GE Vernova, echoed this sentiment, describing Vietnam as a secure and reliable base for the company. She expressed the company's intention to expand its presence in Vietnam and supply equipment for LNG power plants.

The Prime Minister proposed expanding investments to meet Vietnam's rising energy demands and promote sustainable development. He suggested GE Vernova establish an R&D center in Vietnam and strengthen partnerships with local corporations like PetroVietnam and EVN. Chinh also asked the company to contribute to Vietnam's infrastructure development and energy ecosystem, supporting human resources development and transferring advanced technologies.

Vietnam's huge and urgent demand for electricity, along with its pursuit of clean energy and role in the ASEAN power grid, were highlighted by the Prime Minister. GE Vernova, with its active participation in Vietnam's power projects and commitment to green electrification, is well-positioned to contribute to the country's energy development.
