Peugeot's electric 3008 model now offers all-wheel drive functionality.

The Peugeot 3008, in its electric dual-motor version, is making waves for its improved dynamism and fun-to-drive experience, particularly on winding serpentines.

Under the hood, the vehicle is powered by two PSM (permanent magnet synchronous motor) units. The front motor delivers 157 kW (at 10,400 to 6,000 rpm), while the rear motor generates 83 kW (at 14,000 rpm). This setup results in a system output of 239 kW (325 PS), giving the 3008 a noticeable boost in performance.

However, the smaller 73 kWh battery in the Peugeot 3008 Electric 325 Dual Motor, while reducing the vehicle's price, results in a WLTP range of 490 kilometers. While not a record-breaker, it should provide sufficient distance for most daily commutes.

Emmanuel Varene, the product chief, explains that the decision to use the smaller battery was driven by the price and positioning of the Peugeot brand and the 3008. The car is priced at around 60,000 euros in Germany, making it an attractive option for those seeking an electric crossover without breaking the bank.

The Peugeot 3008 Electric 325 Dual Motor retains the angular and robust appearance of its petrol counterpart. Inside, the i-Cockpit remains, featuring a curved 21-inch screen and a smaller control display below. Leather upholstery is available as an extra cost.

The 3008 Electric 325 Dual Motor is based on the STLA-Medium platform of the Stellantis group. Despite the platform's capacity to accommodate a larger battery, the car's affordability is maintained by opting for the smaller battery.

The vehicle offers four driving modes: Eco, Normal, 4WD, and Sport. In Sport mode, the power distribution shifts to 60% at the front and 40% at the rear, enhancing the driving experience further.

However, the infotainment operation and the displays in the Peugeot 3008 Electric 325 Dual Motor can be initially confusing, with too many indicators cluttering the screens. A head-up display is not available to keep the price list in check.

In conclusion, the Peugeot 3008 Electric 325 Dual Motor offers a dynamic driving experience at an affordable price point. While it may not have the longest range, its improved performance and competitive pricing make it an appealing option for those in the market for a compact electric crossover.
