Organizations Adapt to Advancements in Artificial Intelligence Technology

Ready to dive into the world of artificial intelligence (AI) in today's industries? The conversation about harnessing AI's potential has been ongoing for several years now, ever since the surge of generative AI tools.

Step into any office and you'll probably find employees using tools like ChatGPT for search or meeting note summaries. The workforce is gradually getting more accustomed to AI-powered solutions in their workflows, whether organizations are fully ready or not! So, how are companies effectively advancing their AI initiatives?

A recent CDW AI Research Report sheds light on trends and provides insights from multiple industries' leaders and decision-makers. This report reveals that 62% of respondents have great ideas for AI but face obstacles in implementing them.

Joe Markwith, CDW's chief strategist for Mastering Operational AI Transformation, highlights the significance of AI's impact in the report. "This isn't just a business problem. This isn't just a use case problem. This is a kitchen table conversation. This is impacting our kids, our families, society, economy, currency, trade. Everything is being impacted by this technology," Markwith emphasizes. "It's a massive transformation beyond just the use cases and the roles we have in our day jobs. We try to create that sense of urgency that's not just about our jobs or our businesses. It's about where we're going as people, in society, and globally."

Organizations aren't procrastinating when it comes to AI initiatives: More than 98% have started at least one AI project, with 48% initiating three to five projects. Aaron McCray, CDW's field CISO, stresses the importance of AI in innovation and competition in the report. "If you want to thrive and you want to innovate at the speed of technology, you have to consider AI, because your competitors are as well," McCray points out. "If you don't, you may be in the unenviable position of being so far behind the curve that it's too late."

Challenges remain for AI adoption, such as talent acquisition, training IT teams, addressing low-quality or insufficient data, scaling, and implementation. Many organizations find it challenging to determine where to start their AI journey. Change will continue to be a constant as AI models improve and solutions become more refined.

According to CDW insights, organizations are strategic in their AI initiatives by focusing on comprehensive workforce development, robust data governance, and clear leadership strategies. Some key findings and approaches include:

  • Addressing skills gaps through targeted training initiatives and hands-on instruction can lead to faster, more successful AI adoption and greater business outcomes.
  • Comprehensive technology training strategies, such as investing in AI literacy, enhances the value of AI investments and ensures long-term project success.
  • Effective data governance, data quality, privacy, and security measures are critical for trustworthy, optimal AI outcomes.
  • Integrating AI into broader security and observability solutions is essential for enhancing protection and ensuring reliability.
  • Clear leadership, defined use cases, measurable goals, and alignment of AI initiatives with broader business objectives are crucial for strategic and successful AI adoption.

Without a doubt, AI's transformation isn't a one-time event, but rather a continuous process. Organizations that systematically address skills gaps, prioritize data governance, and establish clear leadership strategies are most likely to achieve meaningful progress with their AI initiatives according to the CDW AI Research Report. Stay ahead of the curve, AI-savvy entrepreneurs!
